Young people are our future

JULY 2022
On Tuesday evening we were so pleased to welcome the Rotary Young Writer (Senior level), and her family to our gathering. We were able to present her with Rotary NE certificate and prize, Rotary Great Britain & Ireland Certificate, prize and Trophy. There was also a prize from Rotary Amble and Warkworth.
Lily Tibbitts read her submission for members and guests, to much acclaim. A representative of James Calvert Spense College. Haylie Swallow, was also with us!

Sept 24 2019
Three young students from James Calvert Spence College in Amble attended Rotary District 1030 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp at Middleton-in-Teesdale, sponsored by Rotary Amble and Warkworth.
Callum, Billy and Ross had a great time, made a lot of new friends and learned a great deal about themselves.
They visited the group and talked about their experiences and showed  the videos they had made.
Callum is pictured with his "Inspirational Leader" of the year award............fantastic result!

ROTARY SUPPORTING OUR YOUNG PEOPLE

Fred Calvert, representing Rotary Amble & Warkworth, is pictured presenting a certificate and a cheque to 16-year old Shania-Jade Allan from Amble. This Rotary award is given annually for "Special Endeavour and Progress" during the year. The presentation was made this evening at The James Calvert Spence College Awards Ceremony. The event was well attended by parents and students; the students were all dressed  ready for the end of term "Prom".

We will help, encourage, and fund activities which help young people better fulfill their future roles.

Rotary Youth Competitions
Thousands of young people take part every year in Rotary youth competitions, which, in most cases take the form of regional heats followed by a national final. The majority are categorised into junior, intermediate and advanced age groups.

  • RIBI Young Chef - Cooking amongst young people is a valuable life skill. Sponsored by Filippo Berio, contestants prepare and present a three course meal within a pre-set budget and time limit, which is judged by an expert panel.

  • RIBI Youth Speaks - We encourage speaking and presentation skills in young people and this competition showcases superb quality speakers.

  • RIBI Young Musician - Music is an international language and we encourage talented young people by providing this opportunity to demonstrate their musical skills.

  • RIBI Young Photographer - Photography is a talent and an ever popular art form.  Entrants submit three photographs on a theme in black and white or colour, along with a description of the inspiration for their photographs.

  • RIBI Young Writer - A flair for creative writing is a special gift and this competition promotes and encourages the work of young people who show talent. The winning writers are subsequently published in Rotary magazines.

  • RIBI Technology Tournament - Teams of students interested in engineering and science compete in a one day event to devise and build a solution to an unseen technical task. Solutions are tested and judged against competing teams.

  • RIBI Young Citizen Awards - These showcase the citizenship and responsibilities demonstrated by people under the age of 25. Winners receive a cash prize of £500 at our annual conference where the awards are presented.
