Feb 15th 2026 Amble's Little Shore designated "Bathing Water"
RAW are delighted to share some good news with everyone! The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has formally assessed a proposal for our Little Shore in Amble to be designated Bathing Water and passed it on to the final part of the process – Public Consultation. This is just brilliant. Bathing Water Status gives Public Health Protection through Monitoring, investigation and investment all bound by Legal Protection. This is the very best way to protect any river now and into the future.
Rotary Amble and Warkworth has been involved in a long running effort to improve and preserve key elements in our immediate environment; Rotary Way, town planters, milenium gardens, etc. We have won a number of awards, both district and national for our efforts on Rotary Way.
Our involvment in Environmental issues is set to become greater as we are now are begining to collaborate with community groups on various projects designed to improve the local environment. We are in direct contact with the Warkworth Green Matters Group and are exploring the way ahead, be it financial or direct involvement. This is consistent with national RIGBI values and objectives.
